The Overlord defines what a modern big-mountain ski should be. Fat, strong and stiff - this ski is best left to the big mountain experts who want to push their limits.
Ride
Fast and aggressive with a moderately long sidecut this ski is stable and powerful through all snow conditions. At 113+ mm underfoot it has the most floatation of any ski in the Prior lineup.
Conditions
Big mountain: powder, extreme steeps, chutes, and big airs, as well as natural and manmade features. Big GS carves on the groomers at mach speed are part of the fun too.
Design
Shape: The Overlord combines the best features of our longer Original ski style except with a wider chassis. The lengthy, gradually upturned tip improves trim, floatation and drive compared with standard skis and negates front edge grab; the result is effortless edge to edge transition. The tail is slightly upturned and rounded to maximize effective edge while still allowing the ski to be less catchy in powder and crud.
Radius: A relatively long sidecut makes for predictable straightline speed and stomped landings while still allowing the skier to rail longer GS turns.
Flex: Beefy underfoot for power, edge hold and drive. It has a little more flex towards the tip to provide float yet is still sufficiently stiff in this area so it does not fold when loading the tips up on aggressive turns. From behind the foot the taper is even less gradual creating a stiffer tail for added control and stability.
Strength: Bombproof. For winter 2008 we are using a new full maple wood core combined with a new triax/carbon glass and urethane tip/tail dampeners for our strongest and longest lasting skis ever.
